The Power of Positivity

4.7.20 | Ilene Nathanson

Each weekday morning, the Virtual Inline Media team begins the day with an all-agency video meeting. Sure, there are important matters to discuss, like how we advise our clients during these “unprecedented” times.  How we manage the response to the rapidly changing marketing landscape. How we help both our clients and the agency look ahead to when things start to become less scary and more normal.

In the meantime, we have realized the importance of remaining optimistic and focusing on many of the good things happening in our community. In short, things that make us happy.

Take for instance, Wynn, the service dog in training that brings comfort to health care workers treating COVID-19 patients at Rose Hospital.

And Jean Witt, a kindergarten teacher in Broomfield who drove around to 27 of her students’ homes to drop off care packages and let them know (from a safe distance) how much she missed them.

Even the simple things our Inliners are doing like donating blood, grocery shopping for high risk people, or sewing customized masks make us recognize that focus on the positive fosters gratitude and an optimism that helps get us through tough times.

While it’s easy to let negative thoughts creep up during this COVID-19 pandemic, we will  continue to encourage each other to concentrate on the positive. We will allocate time during our morning meetings to share stories that warm our hearts, because we truly believe that being gracious and kind isn’t “unprecedented” at all.
