College Friday 2011

Monday, April 18th, 2011

College Friday is the day designated to raise awareness about the importance of higher education for Colorado’s youth. (http://www.collegeincolorado.org/)

Here at InLine Media- we all feel that higher education is deeply important and we support College Friday immensely. We have participated for many years and we plan to keep on with our participation to hopefully encourage young children, teens and adults to continue on in the educational field.

We encourage all to participate because it is so much fun. Plus it adds a new twist to CASUAL FRIDAY which we know EVERYONE waits for each week. Take a peak at our team in action on College Friday- and hopefully next year there will be many more participating!

We Love Beer!

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

On August 4th, if you were wandering around LoDo, Market Street, and the 16th Street Mall around lunchtime, you may have noticed some familiar faces- US! Armed with our ‘I Love Beer’ shirts from Old Chicago we hit the pavement as part of an OC Street Team to promote a new beer- ‘Buddha’s Hand’.

All Colorado Old Chicago restaurants are now featuring this beer from Breckenridge Brewery. Exclusive to only OC, you can find it in store until Saturday, September 4th. (More details can be found at www.oldchicago.com or friend them on facebook!)

We handed out coupons for free pints (probably the most popular item of the day!), fliers and information about Buddha’s Hand, and Mystery Cards- gift cards pre-loaded with between $1- $100!

Ilene & Bailey made a new friend in Freddy, a very nice ‘businessman’ on Blake Street who works in ‘ticket sales’ (there was an afternoon Rockies game that day). Freddy educated them on the ins and outs of handing out things like mystery cards- he even took a bunch himself and included them with purchase of his tickets!

All in all, we got people excited about beer, made some new friends, and got some sun and fresh air. Just another day in the life of an ILM’er! :-)

Telluride, CO

Friday, August 13th, 2010

It’s been almost a year since I moved to Colorado, and recently I was able to take a vacation to the lovely town of Telluride. It was a great way to explore a part of this state I had never seen.

Telluride is as picture perfect in real life as it is in photographs. It’s like being on a movie set and someone had painted a perfect mountain range as the backdrop. It seems untouched, like one of the last great mountain towns. There is one way in and one way out. There is a town ordinance that bans the burning of wood. The houses in town are perfect, quaint. And even the smallest one is millions of dollars.

It was an excellent few days filled with friends and music. It was difficult to leave such a perfect and beautiful place. I hope that I have another opportunity in the future to visit.

Backpacking Europe

Friday, July 16th, 2010

In 12 days I will be in Bonn, Germany at the start of a one in a lifetime trip. While I’m still young and broke, I will be meeting up with a good friend from high school and 6 other Sconnie’s to do a 3 week 5 country backpacking trip around Europe. I’m flying into Dusseldorf, Germany where the friends studying abroad will pick up my jetlagged self, and lug me back to their apartments in Bonn. There we will spend 2 days being show the town. On Friday, we’ll be heading to Amsterdam for a free tour of the Heineken Brewery, and anything else that sounds appealing to us. Throughout the trip we’ll be staying in Hostel and a few houses with family friends of the group. From Amsterdam we’ll be going by train to Copenhagen, Denmark. On the August 8th we will be taking a short flight to Geneva, Switzerland to mix up the language and learn some French (I only know how to count). We will be meeting up with some family on the other side of Lake Geneva in Vevey, Switzerland. After another smaller town in Switzerland, we’ll be hitting the prime Italy spots, Venice, Florence, and Rome. I’m flying back to Colorado the Sunday before school starts. What a way to start my 5th semester of college…

As an aside, I’d like to thank everyone at Inline Media for teaching me the industry and showing me the ropes of media buying, consulting, and researching at its finest. It’s been a learning experience and super fun. You are all welcome to come visit me in Fort Collins, and I will definitely stop by if I’m in the area. Keep in touch and if you ever need a college students perspective or help promoting anything in Fort Collins do not hesitate to call. :)

Red Rocks!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

For me, one of the best things about living in Denver is having home field advantage at one of the most amazing places on earth: RED ROCKS.

My first trip to Red Rocks was in 2007 to see a band called Widespread Panic. At the time I wasn’t a big fan of theirs but seeing them at Red Rocks changed it all. I was even there again in 2008 when Mayor Hickenlooper proclaimed June 27 Widespread Panic day in Denver to celebrate their record 32 sold out shows at the venue.

And I was there last month, when Widespread Panic sold out their 33rd, 34th and 35th shows! This time as a Colorado resident but just as much in awe of what a special place Red Rocks is.

To top it off, we even got a rainbow.

Introducing…. Sconnie #3

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

As the newest member of Inline Media, I’m proud to say there’s yet another Wisconsinite in the group. My name is Kaitlyn and I’m going to be going into my Junior Year at Colorado State this fall. I’m a Business Marketing Major with minors in theatre and music. Future plans? TBD. I still have two years to figure it out. I’m grateful for my opportunity to experience media in this form, and also to be exposed to other forms like creative, sales, and advertising. Inline has made me more aware of commericals, stations, and the different forms of media and how to find out what works best in a market I’ve never even heard about.

The goal of my internship is to learn everything about Inline Media, consulting, buying, planning, advising, and of course the office work. So, far only being here three weeks, I feel I’ve picked up on some of the lingo and habits of the office. For instance, I was never one big on T.V. watching, but I have gotten into GLEE, NCIS, and well I only get basic cable let’s not get too crazy. However, my knowledge in the programs Inline uses and excel has increased greatly, and I feel more confident in my abilities as the days progress.

After my internship, I will be spending three weeks traveling around Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, and Italy. A college students dream, and burden. I mean if I’m going to be broke, I might as well be really broke. I also plan to study abroad in New Zealand the Spring of ‘11.

If only for the summer, I hope to provide some relief, so everyone can have a relaxed summer. My first Colorado summer, bring on the sunshine!

Field of Dreams

Tom Lehman

A Master’s Champion, US Open Champion, and a British Open Champion. These incredible accomplishments were seen live at the 71st Senior PGA Championship in Parker, Colorado. Fred Couples, Tom Kite, and Tom Lehman entered the weekend all competing for the lead at the prestigious Colorado Golf Club. With a field like that, the doors were flooded with polo shirts and khaki shorts. Attendance was as fluid as Fred Couples swing, and people were gifted with an 85 degree day.

As I walked outside the ropes of the golf tournament, from tee to green I could only see grinning faces from the gallery. With cocktails, water, or gatorades in hand, it seemed as though Colorado were the perfect canvas to present a Championship Trophy. The air is thin, and these so called “Senior” golfers, came to play. Fred Couples (a crowd favorite) climbed up the leader board only to merely lose in a playoff against Tom Lehman. Notable hall of famers, Mark O’Meara and Nick Price etched toward the leaders down the final stretch to make the tournament one to remember.
